From Innovation to Action: Japan’s Expertise and LAC’s Potential for Hydrogen and Ammonia
This panel will highlight the growing importance of a strong partnership between Japan and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region in developing a green and sustainable hydrogen and ammonia economy. Speakers will explore the strategic role of hydrogen and ammonia in the global energy transition, particularly for decarbonizing key sectors. Japanese partners will share how they can contribute with technical expertise and financial support. The conversation will also spotlight cutting-edge technological advancements along the entire value chain—from production, transport and to end use. This session is a unique opportunity to explore impactful, cross-regional collaboration that can accelerate building a sustainable hydrogen and ammonia value chain.

Part Two – CertHiLAC (Certification scheme for Hydrogen in Latin America and the Caribbean): A Latin American and Caribbean certification scheme to boost the productivity of innovative fuels in LAC and export to Europe and Asia.
Certification plays a critical role in facilitating commercialization at both regional and global levels by providing credibility, transparency, and supporting premium pricing for low emissions hydrogen products. Through CertHiLAC, LAC strengthens its position in international markets while boosting regional productivity. By enabling local production of hydrogen and its derivatives, CertHiLAC reduces dependence on international supply chains, substitutes imports, and fosters the development of a competitive regional hydrogen industry.
