Paulo Alvarenga has been acting as CEO of thyssenkrupp Group in South America since October 2017. The German group of companies for capital goods and services acts in market segments as automotive, naval defense and industrial plants, with sales of €928 million and about 4.000 employees in the region for fiscal year 2022/2023. Alvarenga joined thyssenkrupp in 2012. After serving as Vice President for South America from 2012 to 2015, he took over the position of CEO for the industrial plant business in 2016, expanding his role for the region South America in the following years. Prior to joining thyssenkrupp, he worked for almost 20 years at Siemens, where he held various positions, among others as CEO of divisions Mobility and Building Technologies. Born in Taubaté (SP), he holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Itajubá (MG), and specializations in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), and Business Management from IMD (Institute of Management Development) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Alvarenga is also President of the AHK (German Chamber of Commerce) in Brazil.
