Wärtsilä has signed a five-year decarbonization services agreement with Curaçao’s utility Aqualectra, tying its payments to outcomes like reduced CO₂ emissions, improved energy reliability, and increased renewable energy use. The deal supports Curaçao’s goal to raise its renewable capacity from 30% to 70% by 2027 and includes the installation of a 38.4 MW grid balancing plant and a 25 MW/45 MWh energy storage system, powered by Wärtsilä’s GEMS Digital Energy Platform.
