Roy Ellis is the Director at Barson Strategy Group and the Managing Member of Gencap & Co. With extensive experience in the securities industry, he advances client interests across emerging markets through strategic engagement on fixed income markets, sovereign debt, debt restructuring, and liability management involving both the public and private sectors.

Before his current roles, Roy held senior leadership positions across several leading international financial institutions. He served as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Debt Capital Markets and Sales at Deutsche Bank, where he directed public and private sector origination and restructuring for Latin America. Previously, he worked in the Latin American Investment Banking Group at Salomon Smith Barney and as a Director at Citibank, structuring project finance transactions, loan syndications, and securitizations. Following his tenure in multinational banking, he co-founded and served as CEO of FalconView Securities.

Roy previously served in public service as the Director of Public Credit for Venezuela, where he was responsible for the strategic design and execution of the Republic’s financing plan in both domestic and international markets. Throughout his career bridging government and global finance, he has navigated complex debt structuring, corporate law, and high-level investment strategies across the Americas. He has served as a member of the board of directors for EDELCA, Venezuela’s largest public utility, and for Banco Republica. He remains an active participant in regional economic dialogues, recently facilitating high-level discussions on investment and infrastructure opportunities in emerging economies like Guyana alongside top government officials, and contributing as an expert panelist on topics such as sovereign reforms and creditor recovery for financial intelligence platforms like REDD Intelligence.
