  • Guatemala’s El Ceibillo Project Moves Forward

    U.S. Geothermal Inc. Guatemala has been granted approval to modify the development schedule of the El Ceibillo geothermal project. Though the initial request for a schedule modification was submitted in 2013, the change is expected to be signed into action within the next month. The modified schedule will have the project operating commercially by 2018.

    Last week, Mexico’s Energy Ministry signed on to develop and explore 5,000 MW of geothermal power. A total of five geothermal concessions and 13 exploration permits were awarded to national power utility, Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE).
