  • Jamaica’s RfP for 37 MW of renewables attracts 10 bids – report

    In response to Jamaica’s RFP for 37 MW of renewable energy capacity, Jamaica’s office of Utilities Regulation received 10 bids. The RFP requested proposals for solar, wind, waste-to-energy and other renewable projects that can be operated on a build, own and operate basis.

  • Jamaica to Mitigate Climate Change

    Jamaica aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1.1 million metric tons of C02 per year by 2030. These figures were released in the country’s Intended Nationally Determined Contributions report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change following the COP21 talks in Paris.

  • 3mw solar system at Antiguan airport includes energy storage system

    The recently inaugurated 3MW solar system at the Antiguan airport includes an energy storage system. Meeco is the UK-based company that installed the energy storage system, called sun2safe. The system will allow for energy harnessed during the day to be stored and used during the evening.

  • Sun Fund Americas expands operations from Costa Rica to Jamaica

    Sun Fund Americas, a Costa Rican renewable energy development company, will expand its operations to Jamaica this year. The company signed a 20MW solar PPA. Sun Fund works primarily on utility-scale solar projects and executes them in conjunction with Serenfushion Americas, a US-based hospitality development company. Read more here.

  • 3 MW solar power plant inaugurated at the Antiguan airport

    This week, a 3 MW solar power plant was inaugurated at the Antiguan international airport. The plant, which was developed by PV Energy Limited, has over 12,000 PV panels.   • Cuba & China sign agreement for 100 MW of PV projects

    Cuba and China have signed a commercial contract for the  implementation of a 100-MW photovoltaic project in the Greater Antilles.
