St. Kitts & Nevis Push Forward with Geothermal Development

After signing a Memorandum of Understanding with a company from Guadeloupe to develop geothermal energy in St. Kitts over the next five years, Premier Honorable Vance Amory assured residents of the island of Nevis that St. Kitt’s pursuit of geothermal will not delay geothermal development in Nevis. On the contrary, geothermal development in St. Kitts will complement projects in Nevis.

Speaking at an event earlier this week, Amory said,

“While you have heard that the Federal Government has signed an MUO with a company in Guadeloupe, it does not mean this is detrimental to the geothermal development in Nevis.”

“We intend to replace to the best and to the greatest extent the feasible use of fossil fuel generation for energy requirements of St. Kitts and to add green generating capacity means,” he said. “The road map would also include the proposed methodological approach to the government validating this resource.”
