Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic look to LNG

New Fortress Energy, has published its growth plans: after providing LNG to Jamaica, its next steps include Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

New Fortress Energy, which listed on the U.S. Nasdaq exchange at the beginning of this month, is a global energy infrastructure company, which provides integrated and reliable energy solutions though LNG production facilities and terminals.

The company will use floating storage and regasification units, storage vessels and small-scale LNG carriers as start-up solutions for supplying LNG.

In the second quarter of 2019, it will start suppling gas to two of Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority ‘s (Prepa) units, which are currently running on diesel.

Its plans to supply LNG on a long-term basis in the Dominican Republic are in “advanced stages of negotiations”, said a press release from the company.

“New Fortress Energy is disrupting the liquefied natural gas space while reducing energy costs and diversifying resources”, said Nasdaq president Nelson Griggs.
