Peru clears US$6 billion in solar and wind projects totaling over 1,600 MW

Peru’s Ministry of Economy and Finance has cleared nine renewable energy projects worth over US$6.02 billion, including six solar plants totaling more than 1,600 MW in Arequipa, Moquegua, and Ica, and two wind farms in Piura and Lambayeque. The approval process, managed by the Specialized Investment Monitoring Team, expedited permits and authorizations, enabling progress on environmental, sectoral, water, and electricity-related requirements. Key projects include the 396 MW Illa solar plant, the 368 MW Rutas del Sol plant, and the Bayóvar wind farm valued at US$1.056 billion.
