ContourGlobal brings Victor Jara solar and battery storage project online in Chile’s Tarapacá region

ContourGlobal has brought the Victor Jara project in Chile’s Tarapacá Region online, integrating 231 MW of solar PV with a 200 MW/1.3 GWh battery energy storage system capable of supplying electricity for up to 6.5 hours. The project is among the world’s longest-duration utility-scale battery installations and the longest currently operating in Latin America. It will store daytime solar generation and dispatch it during evening hours under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
