New geothermal legislation for Dominica

Dominica has passed a new piece of legislation: the Geothermal Resources Development Act. The Act includes a regulatory framework and establishes an advisory committee of no more than 6 people comprised of the Permanent Secretary for energy, the Executive Director of the IRC, the Chief Physical Planner, a senior state attorney, and senior technical public officers. The committee will promote sustainable development and use of geothermal energy, as well as ensure low costs for consumers. Other parts of the Act address development and management of any geothermal resource.
