In Nicaragua, the IDB will invest in a project for the exploration and certification of geothermal reserves. The development bank stated the purpose of the project as promotion of renewable energy alternatives and foreign investment in the country. Public and private partnerships are expected to result from this endeavor to consolidate the renewable energy sector; success with the project will allow Nicaragua to present a more attractive environment for potential investors.
Outcomes from exploration will offer interested stakeholders, domestic and foreign, with the chance to access a specialized study of the available reservoirs and their potential capacity. The feasibility study is expected to expedite financing and subsequently, the required permits necessary from the Nicaraguan government.
