Honduras’ Platanares geothermal project to begin operations this year

Honduras will bring 35 MW of geothermal online this year as Ormat’s Platanares project is anticipated to reach commercial operation by the end of 2017.

This announcement was made by Isaac Angel, CEO of Ormat Technologies, in his presentation of Q1 2017 earnings and plans for Platanares geothermal project in Honduras.

Ormat Technologies is continuing with the construction of the 35 megawatt Platanares geothermal project in Honduras. This project will sell its power in collaboration with the national utility of Honduras. The project is expected to generate annual revenues of approximately $33 million under the 15-years DoD agreement.
