El 8vo Congreso de Geotermia para América Latina y el Caribe (GEOLAC 2021) se llevará a cabo virtualmente del 8 al 10 de septiembre.

GEOLAC 2021 llega en un momento clave para la industria y la región. ¿Qué papel puede jugar la geotermia en la reactivación de las economías latinoamericanas y caribeñas post-Covid y cómo puede ayudar a la región a su propia descarbonización? ¿Surgen oportunidades para que la geotermia alimente (y caliente) los sectores extractivos, industrial y agrícola? ¿Puede la geotermia ayudar a impulsar el hidrógeno verde a lo largo de la región?

Organizado conjuntamente por el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), el Banco Mundial y ESMAP, GEOLAC 2021 abordará los desafíos que enfrenta la industria, presentará los proyectos e iniciativas nacionales y explorará oportunidades para nuevas sociedades y programas para impulsar la industria.

En última instancia, GEOLAC 2021 servirá para acelerar el desarrollo de proyectos geotérmicos de clase mundial en América Latina y el Caribe.

The 8th Geothermal Congress for Latin America & the Caribbean (GEOLAC 2021) took place virtually from September 8-10.

GEOLAC 2021 arrived at a critical time for the industry - and for the region. What role can geothermal play in re-activating Latin American and Caribbean economies post-Covid and how can it help the region respond to the need to decarbonize? Are there emerging opportunities for geothermal to power (and heat) the extractives, industrial and agricultural sectors? Can geothermal help propel green hydrogen across the region into the big time?

Co-hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), The World Bank and ESMAP, GEOLAC addressed the challenges facing the industry, showcased national projects and initiatives, and explored opportunities for new partnerships and programs to drive the industry forward.

Ultimately GEOLAC served to accelerate the development of world-class geothermal projects across Latin America and the Caribbean.
