EU to help Dominica build critical infrastructure, including geothermal

Hurricane-ravaged Dominica will receive EUR3.52 million (US$ 4.3 million) from the European Union to help the country rebuild its water infrastructure. This assistance is part of a larger package of EUR8.9 million (US$11 million) to rebuild Dominica following damage from Hurricane Irma.

The EU is also assisting the government establish a legal framework for geothermal development. A unit will also be set up to promote geothermal investments, ensure the efficient use of the geothermal resources, and to monitor all safety issues relating to the operation of geothermal plants.
