The government of El Salvador announced that it plans to strive to obtain 40% of its national electricity supply from geothermal power.
In a statement, the Secretary of Communications of the Presidency of El Salvador, Eugenio Chicas said that this plan aims to source more of its energy from renewables.
“The expectation is that at the end of the mandate we depend 40% of geothermal energy, but also to grow even more in hydropower,” said the spokesman of the government, adding that “also is betting on energy production based on gas, solar and wind power.”
