Country Energy Expert (Jamaica)
As RELP’s Country Energy Expert, Wayne is the local lead who liaises with the country stakeholders. He works on the structuring and design of auctions for procuring renewable energy and battery energy storage electricity-generating capacity. He also reviews electricity regulation, energy policies, IRPs, and other market information, supports other experts within RELP, and manages overall transaction advisory project plans for Jamaica.
He holds a Master of Science in Energy Systems & Thermal Processes (Cranfield University, UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Renewable Energy & Energy Management (Ulster University, N. Ireland) and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (University of Technology, Jamaica). A registered engineer with the Professional Engineers Registration Board in Jamaica, Wayne brings more than 18 years of experience in the energy sector spanning engineering, permitting and development, and construction across the Caribbean.
As Project Manager, Wayne served as the local lead in the development and construction of the 51.5 MW solar farm in Paradise Park, Jamaica, on behalf of international IPPs. He has also worked extensively across the Caribbean and Latin American region, focusing on renewable energy development and due diligence.
