Mr. Wayne Chen serves as Chairman of the GPE in Jamaica. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and oversight for the procurement of new electricity generation capacity and supports Jamaica’s broader energy transition objectives.

He is a distinguished Jamaican businessman and corporate leader with extensive experience in governance, economic development, and public policy. Mr. Chen has held senior leadership positions across both public and private sectors, including roles at the board and executive level in key national institutions.

He has also led major employer and industry associations at the national and regional level. Mr. Chen is widely recognized for his contributions to institutional governance, private sector development, and national economic advancement in Jamaica.

As Chairman of the GPE, Mr. Chen is guiding one of Jamaica’s most significant renewable energy procurement initiatives, supporting the country’s transition to a more resilient, sustainable , and diversified electricity sector.
