Jonathan Coony

Jonathan Coony is a Senior Climate Finance Specialist at the World Bank where he focuses on deployment of climate finance and clean energy transitions.

Previously, Jonathan was the Global Lead for Green Competitiveness where he led the World Bank’s support for private activity in climate sectors. He also led the World Bank Climate Technology Program (CTP) which he grew from ideation to an $85 million global network of eight Climate Innovation Centers supporting more than 500 cleantech companies.

Prior to the World Bank, Jonathan worked at the International Energy Agency (IEA) where he advised governments on energy policies and authored nine books. Before that, he worked in the financial sector structuring project finance for more than 20 independent power projects. Jonathan also led design engineering for an ocean energy technology company.

Jonathan holds an MBA from INSEAD (France), and MS and BS degrees in Engineering from Brown University (USA) and has two US patents in clean energy.
