Dwayne Cenac graduated in 2004 from the Universidad de Oriente, Santiago de Cuba, with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. In 2015, he received his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Wales specialising in project management.
Mr. Cenac has had 21 years of experience working in island utilities. He has worked in various capacities and has gained experience in power equipment maintenance, system protection, system engineering and overall utility management. Over the last 10 years, he has gained considerable knowledge of the challenges, and the solutions required to develop and increase renewable energy penetration in island utilities. His career started in Grenada Electricity Services Limited (GRENLEC); presently, he holds the position of General Manager at the Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC).
As a strong proponent to curb the effects of climate change and adapt to the unavoidable impacts, he contributed to Grenada’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) as a member of the National Climate Change Focal Points Network. He was also a member of the CARICOM regional project team to develop the first CARICOM Regional Energy Efficiency Building Code (CREEBC). He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE). His overall membership with the IEEE spans 18 years with membership in various IEEE societies. Mr. Cenac is also an Accredited Director with certification from the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada.
