Principal Energy Specialist and Coordinator for the Caribbean


Roberto G. Aiello is a Principal Energy Specialist and Coordinator for the Caribbean at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He has 28+ years of experience in investment operations, development policies, and technical assistance in energy and sustainable development. Prior to the Caribbean, he coordinated the Energy program in the South Cone based in Paraguay with extended responsibilities to Chile and Uruguay, and previously served as a Principal Energy Advisor based in Washington DC. Before joining the IDB, he held several positions at the World Bank (WB), including Senior Energy Specialist for LAC and the Pacific, and Carbon Finance in Headquarters. Prior to the WB, he served as Technical Coordinator for the Montreal Protocol at the Secretariat of Sustainable Development in Argentina, and previously as project manager in the private sector. Roberto is an Industrial Engineer and holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development.
