New Energy Events proudly welcomed Diego Mesa, Colombia’s Minister of Energy and Mining, to the 8th Geothermal Congress for Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC 2021). Formerly, as Colombia’s Deputy Energy Minister between 2018 and 2020, he co-led the design and implementation of the country’s energy transformation policy. Participants at GEOLAC 2021 had access to the keynote interview with Mesa as he mapped out Colombia’s framework for geothermal development, and how Colombia’s approach could become an example of geothermal policy done right. This in-depth interview also explored geothermal’s role in Colombia’s decarbonization strategy, and the implications for developers, investors and communities.
