Esteban L. Biondi, Senior Consultant at Haskoning, has more than 30 years of experience in ocean, coastal, and waterfront projects ranging from marina developments and cruise destinations to coastal risk assessments and environmental impact studies. Since 1993, he has worked as a consultant on projects throughout the US, Caribbean, Latin America, Middle East, Europe, and Asia.

In his practice, he supports coastal vulnerability studies, property risk assessments, and climate-related financial disclosures of physical risks for coastal real estate assets. He has specialized in beachfront hospitality assets, which require special analyses.

He has developed improved methodologies to assess climate coastal risks for real estate projects and propose risk reduction and climate adaptation strategies. He incorporates regeneration approaches that result in the extensive use and promotion of design with nature principles, nature-based solutions, and the evaluation of engineering properties of living systems.

Mr. Biondi is an expert in coastal resilience and climate adaptation, as well as a leader in sustainable design of marinas and waterfront development. He has authored conference papers and articles; directed the development of design guidelines; and chaired the Recreational Navigation Commission of PIANC between 2017 and 2025. He is a member of ULI SE Florida / District Resilience Committee and of the Committee for the revision of ASTM Standard Guide for Financial Disclosures Attributed to Climate Change.
