Trinidad and Tobago’s 2027 Budget allocates approximately US$601 million to public utilities, prioritizing improvements to water infrastructure, electricity reliability, and essential services. The government plans to advance three proposed desalination plants in Mayaro, Morne Diablo and Tobago to strengthen water security and address persistent supply challenges. These efforts build on recent investments in pipeline upgrades, new production wells, water treatment facilities and storage infrastructure, alongside the rehabilitation of the Beetham Wastewater Treatment Plant, which serves approximately 302,000 people. The budget also proposes continued support for utility assistance programs, including solar panel access for low-income households beyond the electricity grid, as part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure resilience and service reliability.
