Healthcare leaders from 15 countries and territories gathered in Miami on September 17 for the inaugural KPMG Caribbean Healthcare Summit, CariHealth 2026.
Organized by New Energy Events and Title Sponsor KPMG Islands Group, the one-day summit brought together health ministers, hospital leaders, multilaterals, financial institutions, healthcare operators, and policy experts to examine the shared pressures facing island health systems.
Participants included representatives from KPMG International, the World Bank, UNOPS, PAHO/WHO, national ministries and health authorities, hospitals, insurers, and financial institutions from across the Caribbean and internationally.
Discussions focused on six issues shaping the future of Caribbean healthcare: chronic disease and mental health, digital transformation, prevention and wellness, climate resilience, workforce pressures, and financial sustainability.
A central conclusion emerged throughout the day. No single jurisdiction has every answer, but the region has a valuable base of practical experience that can be shared more effectively. Participants examined how proven approaches can be adapted across island health systems while accounting for differences in scale, resources, geography, and local needs.
CariHealth 2026 marked the beginning of a broader regional platform for sharing experience, building partnerships, and maintaining momentum around healthcare transformation across the Caribbean.
