CAP and Aceros AZA launch US$484 million green steel venture to revive Huachipato plant

Chilean companies CAP and Aceros AZA have agreed to combine their steel businesses to revive the historic Huachipato steel plant in Talcahuano through a new green steel venture valued at US$484 million. The new company, 85%-owned by AZA and 15%-owned by CAP, will use recycled scrap metal and electric arc furnace technology to produce lower-carbon steel.
