The IFC has granted its first green hydrogen loan for US$25 million to support the Kahirós project in Fray Bentos, Uruguay, aimed at decarbonizing forestry logistics through solar-powered hydrogen production and electric transport. The initiative, which includes a 3.9 MW solar installation and six hydrogen-powered trucks, is expected to reduce emissions, create jobs, and position Uruguay as a regional leader in scalable clean energy. Scheduled to start operations by the end of 2026.
