El Salvador inaugurates 7.5 MW Berlin Binary Cycle geothermal power plant

El Salvador’s CEL has inaugurated the 7.5 MW Berlin binary cycle geothermal power plant in Usulután, which converts waste heat from the existing geothermal facility into electricity. The US$37 million project, supplied by Turboden, increases LAGEO’s installed capacity to 204.4 MW and strengthens geothermal generation, which now provides about 20% of the country’s electricity.
