2.35 MW of Solar PV projects start construction under UAE-Caribbean Renewables Fund

Solar PV plant projects in the Bahamas, Barbados, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have start construction with funding provided by the UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund.

The USD 50 million fund was set up in January, and is expected to support renewable energy projects in more than sixteen countries in the Caribbean, over the next three years.

The first three projects under the fund include a 900kW electric vehicle charging station in the Bahamas, and a solar carport facility in Barbados. The third project, a solar plant connected to a battery storage facility, will cover all of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ daytime power demand.

The plants are expected to be in full operation by the first quarter of 2019.
