Construction has begun on the 242 MWp Babilonia solar plant in La Joya, Arequipa, Peru, developed by the Spanish company Zelestra. The US$140 million project will feature over 394,000 bifacial solar panels, supply electricity to around 350,000 homes, and is expected to start commercial operations in the first half of 2027. During construction, it will create over 500 local jobs, with permanent technical staff needed once operational.
