USD 100m loan deal for renewable projects in Central America

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) have signed an agreement to provide a USD 100 million loan for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in Central America.

This loan aims to strengthen green financing operations, and support projects that generate clean energy, encourage regional development and create jobs, said CABEI’s Executive President, Mr. Nick Rischbieth.

This loan to CABEI, the Green Facility Untied Loan II, is the second in their partnership with JBIC aimed at green financing. This is one of eleven wider credit agreements, reaching a total of USD 717.3 million, between  CABEI and Japan.
