UNDP awards $15k in ‘blue lab funding’ to four startups

The United Nations Development Programme’s Blue Economy Accelerator Lab in Barbados awarded blue lab funding to four startups doing work related to the Blue Economy. The companies were chosen from among eight candidates, and will receive up to US$15,000 in total funding. Winners included Bio Plastic Creation, which makes biodegradable products from sargassum seaweed and cassava starch; Bajan Digital Creations, focused on coral reef mapping with underwater drones; Ten Habitat and their work on traceable fisheries; and NRG, for the development of biogas and fuel from fish offal.
