Turks and Caicos has become the first Caribbean nation to complete a comprehensive tourism capacity study, providing data-driven insight into how many visitors each island can sustain without harming the environment or local communities. Minister of Tourism Jhavargo Jolly said the study marks a shift toward evidence-based, sustainable tourism growth, ensuring development adds value rather than strain. Under new policies, projects must include resilience measures for waste, water, and energy use, while efforts to link tourism with local agriculture, fisheries, and small businesses aim to keep more economic benefits within the community.
