Saft provides lithium-ion batteries for Puerto Rican solar plant

Bolivian Legislature approves construction of 50mw solar system

Last Thursday, Bolivia’s Legislative Assembly approved the construction of a 50 MW solar system by the state-owned utility Empresa Nacional de Energia’s (ENDE). The project will be supported by 67 million USD in funding from the French Development Agency (AFD). Once completed, the PV plant will generate 106 Gwh annually. Read more here.
Guyana launches energy project

In an effort to electrify the 80% of rural areas in Guyana that have no electricity, Guyana’s Ministry of Public Infrastructure, the Multilateral Investment Fund and CARISBSAVE have partnered to implement the Sustainable Business Models for Rural Electrification and Energy Access project. Oriana Energy begins construction of 45-MW PV plant in Puerto Rico

Construction of a 45 MW solar plant in Puerto Rico began last week. Once completed, the solar farm will generate 125,000 MW annually. Led by Oriana Energy, a partnership of two US energy firms, the project will cost $160 million to complete.
Engie Awarded 40MW Solar Power Project in Peru

The French company Engie has won a 40 MW solar project in Peru. This project was awarded in the fourth round of tenders for renewable energy in Peru. Installation of the array will be completed by 2017.
3mw solar system at Antiguan airport includes energy storage system

The recently inaugurated 3MW solar system at the Antiguan airport includes an energy storage system. Meeco is the UK-based company that installed the energy storage system, called sun2safe. The system will allow for energy harnessed during the day to be stored and used during the evening.
Sun Fund Americas expands operations from Costa Rica to Jamaica

Sun Fund Americas, a Costa Rican renewable energy development company, will expand its operations to Jamaica this year. The company signed a 20MW solar PPA. Sun Fund works primarily on utility-scale solar projects and executes them in conjunction with Serenfushion Americas, a US-based hospitality development company. Read more here.
