    Thirty secondary schools in Jamaica will reduce electricity costs by 40-70 percent by increasing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources through the “Schools Energy Efficiency and Solar Pilot Project” implemented by the Ministry of Education and Youth, the National Education Trust (NET) and Canada-based renewable energy company, Roswall Development Inc.     Xavier Gordon, a mechanical engineer, and Carey Escoffery, a finance professional, launched Jamaica’s first dedicated Electric Vehicle company, Flash Motors Company Ltd.   • Jamaica receives proposals for pumped hydroelectric storage project

    Jamaica received local and international proposals to implement a pumped hydroelectric storage project. Reportedly, the power generation could be up to 200MWh annually and could increase Jamaica’s proportion of renewable electricity generation to 50% from 13% today. Source: Energy Storage News

  • The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Mines and Energy signs three PPA’s for 128 MW of solar and biomass projects

    The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Mines and Energy signed three PPA’s for 128 MW for two solar parks with a combined capacity of 93 MW and one biomass-based project of 35 MW. The overall investment for the plants will be $197 million. Source: Renewables Now
