The Business Case for Solar Power in the Caribbean: Bacardi HQ Running on 100% Sunshine

After contending for too long with high Caribbean electricity prices, Bacardi installed a 24.75 kW solar array on its San Juan headquarters. The array, which produces 100% of the building’s power needs, is projected to pay for itself in just five years.

The installation of these panels has been one of several initiatives undertaken by Bacardi to integrate sustainability into its operations over the last decade. According to a statement released this week, Bacardi has reduced energy usage by 25%, green house gas emissions by 48% and water usage by 72% since 2006.
