S&P Global Platts launches price assessments for carbon neutral hydrogen

As efforts towards the transition to renewable energy increase the role of hydrogen energy has escalated in importance. With the aim to strengthen transparency for the commodity, S&P Global Platts created a suite of Carbon Neutral Hydrogen (CNH) price assessments by reviewing the carbon neutral value of hydrogen as it leaves production hubs in key regions. This is only the beginning for the emerging hydrogen market, as Platts only assessed the value of hydrogen regardless of the production pathway or color. Right now they believe the best way to encourage the expansion of the hydrogen market into lower emissions and green hydrogen is to reflect on the value of the hydrogen molecule as a commodity in order to give the industry, governments, investors, and other participants a trusted and clearly assessed price.
