Solar power plant enters into operation in Nicaragua

A new 300kW solar power plant has been installed in San Juan, Nicaragua, providing electricity to inhabitants who previously had no access to the central grid.

ENATREL, the country’s national electricity transmission company, has announced the operation was successful through the investment of USD2.4 million.

The solar power plant also includes a battery solar system. Salvador Mansell Castrillo, of the Energy and Mines Ministry, emphasised the importance of electrification in distant areas with difficulties of access.

Over the last week, the government report read, over 700 homes were provided with electricity. The National Transmission System has 35 projects in place to further the government’s electrification goals.
