Shell, the oil and gas behemoth, and Gerdau, the Brazilian steelmaker, agreed to team up on a 50-50 joint venture to develop a solar farm in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The solar farm will have an installed capacity of about 260 MW. 50% of the power will supply Gerdau’s steelmaking units in Brazil, while Shell plans to trade the remainder on the free market.
