Second solar plant in Honduras reaches commercial operation

The Los Prados solar power plant, a 35 MW project undertaken by Scatec Solar and Norfund in Honduras, is now connected to the grid, and has reached commercial operation.

The project, which is expected to provide 73 000 kWh of electricity per year to 16 3000, thus reducing CO2 emissions by 40 000 tons per year, has a 20-year power purchase agreement with the state-owned utility Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica.

The CEO of Scatec Solar, Mr. Raymond Carlsen, expressed his delight at the realisation of the project, a milestone for the company which now has an asset portfolio in Honduras of 95MW. “Increased access to renewable energy is crucial for economic development, poverty reduction and addressing climate change”, added Mr. Mark Davis, EVP Clean Energy in Norfund, “Investing in clean energy is a priority for Norfund and we are pleased to expand our partnership with Scatec Solar with this second solar power plant in Honduras”.
