OPIC will supply loan for Honduran 35MW geothermal power plant

The 35MW Platanares geothermal plant development in Honduras will move forward with financing from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). OPIC, the U.S. government’s development finance institution, will be the sole lender.

Ormat Technologies Inc. announced its subsidiary had completed the financial closing of the project.

“OPIC’s longstanding partnership with Ormat is helping bring needed electricity to the developing world,” said OPIC President and CEO, Ray W. Washburne. “Our financing to this project in Honduras will bring a reliable source of renewable power to the country and help promote economic growth and stability.”
