OECS and IRENA collaborate to advance geothermal energy in the Eastern Caribbean

The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has partnered with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) through the SIDS Lighthouses Initiative and the Global Geothermal Alliance to advance geothermal energy development in its Member States. The collaboration, focusing on Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, aims to create a roadmap for stakeholder engagement. This effort is part of the GEOBUILD programme, funded by the Caribbean Development Bank and supported by partners like the IDB and EU-CIF, to leverage geothermal potential for sustainable energy, reduced fossil fuel dependence, and economic resilience.
