Nicaragua: clinic will use solar thermal energy for air conditioning and water heating

A new solar plant at a clinic in Managua, Nicaragua, will save approximately 1,100 tonnes of CO2 per year. Solid, a Graz-based company specializing in solar thermal systems, will fund the € 4  project using a “soft loan”. Sited for the Hospital Militar Dr. Alejandro Dávila Bolaños, the plant will cover the entire hot water demand and supply parts of the hospital with air conditioning. Working together with two Austrian manufacturers, GREENoneTEC and Caverion, Solid will deliver a 4,450 m² solar plant to the roof of the building. Financing for the plant is from the Oesterreichische Kontrollbank (OeKB), acting as the guarantor and the institution granting the soft loan. The project was jointly developed with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the National Cleaner Production Centre of Nicaragua (NCPC).
