Mountain Partners to Create Chile’s First Climate VC Fund

For the first time ever, Chile will have a climate venture capital fund that will focus on investing in companies contributing to fighting climate change. Mountain Partners AG’s Chilean division is in the process of setting up the fund. They planned to raise $50 million, and have already secured most of the funding. Its first acquisitions should be announced in February or March. The company plans to buy stakes in 15 to 20 startups, participating in pre-series A or series A funding rounds with an average investment ranging from $1.5 million to $3 million.
