Latin America targets 200 GW of electrolysis and US$300 billion investment for low-emission hydrogen by 2050

Latin America and the Caribbean are expected to install 200 GW of electrolysis capacity and 400 GW of supporting power infrastructure by 2050 to support the region’s growing low-emission hydrogen industry, according to a new report by OLADE. The sector could attract up to US$300 billion in investment, generate 350,000 jobs, and enable annual hydrogen exports worth over US$13 billion. More than 200 projects are already in development, many combining solar power with electrolysis for green hydrogen production.
