Jamaica approves irrigation expansion measures supporting US$163 million project

Jamaica’s Senate approved two resolutions to expand irrigation access in the Pedro Plains and Braco agricultural areas. The measures support ongoing irrigation infrastructure development, including the approximately US$163 million Pedro Plains expansion project, which is expected to benefit at least 6,000 farmers and cover 4,103 hectares. The expanded Braco irrigation area will encompass approximately 5,000 hectares, supporting efforts to strengthen agricultural productivity and water resilience.
