Itaipu Binacional has inaugurated a 2.5 MW photovoltaic plant in Cascavel, Paraná, built on a former garbage dump, as part of a project to rehabilitate degraded areas. With a total investment of over US$1.9 million, the plant will power part of the local electric bus fleet and provide energy to municipal public buildings, contributing to sustainability efforts.
