Itaipu Binacional has approved the installation of a 1 MWp experimental floating solar plant on the Paraguayan side of its reservoir. The plant is expected to generate between 1,800 and 2,000 MWh annually, powering the facility’s offices and supplying energy equivalent to about 650 homes. The project will serve as a feasibility study for potential future expansions at Itaipu and other water bodies in Brazil and Paraguay.
