Indonesia and Costa Rica Sign Geothermal Cooperation Agreement

Indonesia and Costa Rica have signed a framework to increate bilateral cooperation between the two countries. According to the Jakarta Post, the Indonesia Foreign Minister Rento LP Maraud and Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister, Manuel Gonzalez Sanz, signed an agreement of cooperation on Sunday of last week.

Though the agreement includes multiple sectors, such as disaster mitigation and crime reduction, geothermal development is an important piece of the agreement.

Indonesia, which has the world’s largest geothermal energy reserves, will assist Costa Rica in developing future geothermal projects.
