Haiti makes big moves for rural solar mini-grids

The Haitian Government launched a new program for the development of privately led mini-grids in Haiti. PHARES (Programme Haïtien d’Accès des communautés Rurales à l’Energie Solaire – Haitian Program for Access to Solar Energy in Rural communities) is a bottom-up supported by both IDB and World Bank. The program provides subsidies to private developers/operators to ensure the sustainability of the services provided and access to these services at an affordable cost for end-users.
